Makalu Sherpani Col Trek
The trek starts from Tumlingtar either by regular flight or a helicopter ride depending upon the weather conditions. The trail leads upstream along the Arun Kosi across the terraced fields and villages to reach Chichira. We leave the main trail and cross the Arun River to Tashi Gaon. From there, we go upstream to Makalu Base Camp. Then we cross the 3 difficult passes of the Sherpani Pass (6,110m.), West Col (6,135m.) and Mingbo La (5817m.).
This trek, being one of the most strenuous in Nepal, requires that we are well acclimatized to cross the passes. During this trip you will have wonderful views of the mountains such as Kanchenjunga, Makalu I, Makalu II, Jannu , Baruntse, Lhotse, Everest, Ama Dablam, Pumori & Thamserku. From Baruntse Base Camp, the trek will continue through difficult passes like Mingbo La for which we need at least a line of 300m of fixed rope to descend the pass. The trek ends at Lukla.
Day 01: Arrival in Katmandu. Transfer to hotel.
Day 02: Fly to Tumlingtar and trek to Khandbari. O/N camp.
Day 03: Trek to Fururru. O/N camp.
Day 04: Trek to Seduwa. O/N camp.
Day 05: Trek to Tashigaon. O/N camp.
Day 06: Trek to Kauma. O/N camp.
Day 07: Trek to Mumbuk. O/N camp.
Day 08: Trek to Nhe Kharka. O/N camp.
Day 09: Trek to Sherson. O/N camp.
Day 10: Trek to Makalu Base camp. O/N camp.
Day 11: Rest day at Makalu BC. O/N camp.
Day 12: Trek to Sherpa Col high camp. O/N camp.
Day 13: Cross Sherpani Col Hunku valley. O/N camp.
Day 14: Trek to Mera La BC. O/N camp.
Day 15: Trek to Dig Kharka. O/N camp.
Day 16: Trek to Thulodunga. O/N camp.
Day 17: Trek to Chutanga. O/N camp.
Day 18: Trek to Lukla. O/N camp.
Day 19: Fly to Kathmandu. O/N in hotel.
Day 20: Sightseeing in Kathmandu. O/N in hotel.
Day 21: Transfer to airport for onward destination.
